The Fairfield City Council will meet tonight at 6 p.m. in City Hall, with a Public Hearing to rezone properties to be held prior to the regular meeting at 5:50 p.m. Items in Routine Business include an ordinance to rezone hospital owned property from an R-2 Zone to a P Zone, an ordinance to rezone city owned property from an R-3 Zone to P Zone, a street closing request for FCHS Homecoming, and a resolution for an appointment to the Police Pension Fund. Other items on the agenda are an ordinance for the transfer of property between the Park District & the City, TIF Redevelopment Agreement for the Water Tower Project, TIF Redevelopment Agreement with Ginger Ale's, and an ordinance authorizing modification of the city's agreement with Sunrise Sanitation. FNB in Fairfield will have limited lobby access on Tuesday, August 16 and Wednesday, August 17 due to installation of a new HVAC system. The west parking lot will be closed both days, but drive-thru traffic will exit on the north side of the west lot. Customers wishing to enter the bank should park near and enter the north or east doors. In addition, the bank lobby will be closed from approximately 11:30am until 1pm on Tuesday, 8/16 during the removal of the old system. It is anticipated the lobby will be closed for another hour on Wednesday, 8/17 for installation of the new equipment. Customers can access services by using the bank's drive-thru during this time. Convicted Cop killer, Ray E Tate is set to appear in Wayne County court this morning in front of Judge Molt at 9:00 AM via Zoom. On December 29th, 2021 Tate shot and killed Wayne County Deputy Sean Riley after a call was placed for a motorist assist on I-64, then fled the scene and headed to Missouri where a crime spree ensued involving hijacking and taking a homeowner hostage. In April, Tate plead guilty to 38 counts of murder, however on May 19th, Tate asked to withdraw his plea in an effort to avoid dying in prison. Tate appeared in court via Zoom on June 28th for a status hearing. He is currently being housed in the Menard Correctional Facility.
