A woman has been charged in relation to the fire that happened at Meadow Run Apartments in Anderson on April 20, according to Anderson County Fire Chief Jimmy Sutherland.
When the Anderson County Fire Department responded to the fire around 6:30 p.m. that evening, they saw fire coming from Jordan Kerry Dockery s apartment. The fire was under control in about 20 minutes but at least seven other apartments had smoke and water damage.
Dockery was the only person injured and was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. She was charged Thursday morning with second-degree arson.
As soon as the investigation into the fire began, Sutherland said the cause of the fire was suspicious. While talking to the Independent Mail today, he said the time of day and where the fire started was what deemed the fire suspicious to the department.
