On April 2, Saifi allegedly splashed passengers on Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express with an inflammable substance, later identified as petrol, and allegedly started a fire. Three passengers, including a minor, died while trying to escape and eight others suffered injuries.
A Kerala court on Friday sent Shahrukh Saifi, the prime accused in the Kozhikode train fire incident, to 14-day judicial custody. Saifi will continue to remain under medical treatment at Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode
The main suspect in the Kerala train fire arson is likely to be charged for murder and under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
