Industry leaders Ratan Tata, Anand Mahindra, and Nobel laureate Amartya Sen are among an impressive line-up of speakers to share their insights and suggestions at the three-day global meet Kerala Looks Ahead from February 1. New Delhi: A group of senior economists have released an open letter to the Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar calling for the repeal of the three contentious farm bills “which are not in the best interests of the small and marginal farmers of the country”.
The signatories, including professor D. Narasimha Reddy formerly with the National Institute of Rural Development, said that while changes were needed in the agricultural marketing system, the “reforms brought by these Acts do not serve that purpose”.
