KOCHI: Two women who are fighting for justice will be posing a challenge to the mighty CPM in Malabar in the assembly elections. The mother of the Walayar victims will take on CPM stalwart and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Dharmadom while KK Rema, wife of the slain communist rebel TP Chandrasekharan, will be the UDF-supported RMPI candidate in Vadakara. Though no one expects miracle in Dharmadom, the presence of the mother will again trigger a debate on the death of the two girls and the machinations resorted to cover up the case.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that the BJP has reduced democracy to an item to be purchased while Congress itself has become a thing put up for sale.
The rivals of LDF have big concerns over the added mass support to the government. “Now, they are trying to create certain kind of symbols for limiting the discussions to such issues. Congress tries to give a message that contest in Nemom is the party’s trump card in its fight against BJP. The Congress should first make it clear that where have their votes gone in the previous election in Nemom. Now, they (the Congress) say they have fielded a strong person in Nemom. It will take quite some time to know whether the Congress is sincere in its fight against BJP in Nemom,” the CM told a news conference in Kannur on Tuesday.

On March 10, he announced his decision to quit Congress over the alleged undemocratic way of selecting candidates for the upcoming Assembly polls in Kerala which is scheduled for April 6.

NEW DELHI: Former Kerala Congress leader PC Chacko joined the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Tuesday.
“I am formally joining NCP today,” he said. The 74-year-old is a former Member of Parliament from Kerala’s Thrissur constituency.
He headed the Joint Parliamentary Committee on 2G Spectrum during the UPA government (2009-2014).
The Kerala Congressheaded by former Union Minister P C Thomas on Wednesday quitthe NDA alleging that his party was neglected by theBJP-led alliance when theseats were allocated for the April 6 polls. The faction led by Thomas would merge with the Kerala Congress headed by senior leader P J Joseph, which is a constituent of the Congress-led UDF. Thomas was elected as MP in NDA ticket from then Muvattupuzha seat in 2004 Lok Sabha polls. The Kerala Congress leader, who was a minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government, said his party was given four seats in the 2016 Assembly polls but not a single seat was allocated this time.
