District judge of 5 years starts campaign

REEDSVILLE – Magisterial District Judge Kent A. Smith has announced his intention to seek re-election in District 58-3-03, which serves Armagh, Brown, Union and Menno townships. Smith plans to cross-file in both the Democratic and Republican primaries.
As district judge for the past five years, Smith has presided over preliminary hearings, landlord-tenant complaints and other civil cases. He has also provided notary services as has officiated weddings.
He has also been appointed as special judge to preside over cases from Juniata, Centre and Blair counties.
Smith’s office was deemed “exemplary” after a June 2020 audit through the state Auditor General’s office.
