“We’re working hard to run that down,” Oconto County Sheriff Todd Skarban said Friday.
The man has been identified, but Skarban declined to release his name.
The sheriff’s office is waiting results of an autopsy, he said.
Deputies responded to a report received about 6:30 a.m. of a body found along Lade Beach Road near Rost Road, about 13 miles southwest of Oconto.
OCONTO – Felony charges filed against two Oconto residents initially accused of robbing a man at gunpoint of a purported $60,000 in designer watches have been dropped, but they still face three misdemeanors.
Joshua Uphill, 22, and Jessica Humblet, 20, have pleaded not guilty to theft, battery and disorderly conduct over the Oct. 29 incident.
According to the criminal complaint, the victim, who was apparently acquainted with the suspects, did not directly contacted Oconto Police. Instead, an officer was called to 300 block of McDonald Street about 9:45 p.m. for suspicious person who knocked on a door.
The officer found a man a few blocks away who said he’d just been robbed of his belongings.
