SHREVEPORT, La. The I-49 Inner-City Connector has been discussed for decades and is expected to reach a whole new level of interest in 2021. As we near a record of decision, we thought it was important to build some enthusiasm and momentum in the community, said Timothy Magner, Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce president.

Advertising agencies are hired, media and awareness campaigns are starting as the record of decision nears and marks the final step on if and when the approximately 3.2-mile connector will be built and where. It will actually link I-10, I-20 and I-30 through Louisiana. That is a huge opportunity for us regionally as a transportation and distribution hub. It also opens up other parts of our downtown area to development, said Magner.
The city of Corsicana extends its hospitality through a unique group of ambassadors who stand throughout the town on street corners and in front of key buildings and memorials â permanently.
Corsicanaâs Bronze Sculpture Tour is a life-sized art exhibit that tells stories about the unique individuals who built the cityâs history.
Created by different artists, most of the lifelike sculptures interact with the cityscape: an oil field worker appears to cross a street on his way home; a pastry chef leans over to offer a fruitcake to passersby; and a pet wolf guards the spot where its owner Lyman T. Davis first served his famous Wolf Brand Chili.
Henley worked alongside Rogers in efforts to overcome the pandemic.
He called the doctor steadfast in his efforts to protect the community, even once he contracted the virus in late December.
“The resolve that he had to keep fighting, even from his hospital bed, staying the course to make sure people wear their masks, make sure people social distance,” Henley said. It s just devastating that someone who fought so hard for all of us, that this took his life.
In his absence, Henley said community leaders planned to fight with even greater determination.
In the vaccination hub Rogers helped to advocate for, the county has vaccinated 2,000 people.
