Eight Filipino skateboarders will be joining Margielyn Didal in bannering the Philippines in the inaugural 2020 Asia Skateboarding Awards (ASA).
The recent nomination includes 16-year-old Kyle “Smokey” Siarot for Rookie of the Year, Jeff Gonzales for Styles for Miles, Motic Panugalinog and Jerwin “Spanky” Santos for Creative Sole, Christopher “Ping” Hurich and Daryl Dominguez for Fast Feet, and 2019 Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Daniel Ledermann and Renzo Mark “Mak” Feliciano for the Asia Trick of the Year.
Didal has added another accolade in her stellar resume after joining 78 women from over 24 countries to be nominated in the awards.
After the selection process through Kenny Reed, technical director and renowned skater and coach of Myanmar’s skateboarding team, winners will be determined by a panel of jury composed of global skateboarding icons.
Other awards include Vertical Ripper, Style for Miles, Asia Rookie of the Year, Hidden Gem, Creative Sole, Fastest feet in the East, and Trick of the Year.
The 21-year-old Didal followed up her 2018 Asian Games gold medal (Street) by winning two more in the 2019 SEA Games in the Game of skate and Street categories.
