MONMOUTH, ILL. (04/02/2023) The Monmouth College softball team split a non-conference home double header against Fontbonne University on Saturday. The Scots (6-12) lost the opener 5-3 and won the nightcap 3-1. In the opener, Monmouth left runners on in the first two innings and Fontbonne took the lead in the third against starter Lizzie Durfee (Arlington, Washington). A single, a walk and an error loaded the bases with one out. With two down, a dropped flyball scored three runs and a dropped pop up scored a fourth to give the visitors a 4-0 lead. In the bottom of the third, Addison Narlock (Antioch, Illinois) was hit by a pitch and she was out at second as Lillian Hucke (Aledo, Illinois) reached on a fielders' choice. Calista Warmowski (Spring Grove, Illinois) doubled to center to get the Scots on the board. MyKenzie Kloess (Dupo, Illinois) singled and stole second. MONMOUTH, ILL. (03/06/2023) The Monmouth College softball team started their Florida trip on Monday with two games, beating Otterbein University 3-1 and falling to Gordon College 4-1. In the opener against Otterbein, the Scots scored in the top of the first. Lillian Hucke (Aledo, Illinois) singled and was forced out at second with MyKenzie Kloess (Dupo, Illinois) running at first. Vanessa Wright (Villa Grove, Illinois) singled to left and Madelyn Belville (Rushville, Illinois) singled to left as Kloess scored. In the second inning, Olivia Riddley (Chatham, Illinois) led off with a walk and Kayleigh Cobb (Pawnee, Illinois) doubled to the wall in left. Kendall Lewis (Cambridge, Illinois) walked to load the bases and the Cardinals changed pitchers. With one out, Hucke drew a walk and Cobb scored for a 2-0 Monmouth lead.
