When it was over 2,403 americans were dead, 21 warships were sunk or damaged, and six air fields had been bombed. But what many do not know is that it wasnt just an air raid. The Japanese Imperial navy also planned to attack the u. S. Pacific fleet with a secret weapon five midget submarines. Fortunately, their attack was foiled. In part by the Alert Response of uss ward, an old destroyer manned by a reserve navy crew.
