Morning crash claims life of man in Huron County

BROOKFIELD TWP, MI A single-vehicle crash in Huron County has claimed the life of a 25-year-old man.
Shortly before 7 a.m. on Thursday, April 29, Huron County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the crash site on Brown Road just south of Kilmanagh Road in Brookfield Township. A passerby had come across a full-size pickup truck overturned in the deep ditch, which contained 2.5 to 3 feet of water, Sheriff Kelly J. Hanson said.
Owendale firefighters removed the lone male occupant of the 2004 GMC pickup with assistance from a wrecker. Responders pronounced the man deceased at the scene, Hanson said.

BAD AXE, MI The Huron County sheriff is reminding people to stay off increasingly precarious ice as the winter weather fades to spring.
Sheriff Kelly J. Hanson said that Huron County Central Dispatch on Tuesday, March 9, received to calls about people breaking through the ice of the Saginaw Bay. The first call came in at 4:30 p.m. and involved a man entering the water near Geiger Road Public Access in Fair Haven Township.
Man carjacks teen at high school in Michigan’s Thumb, arrested in Indiana

SEBEWAING, MI After carjacking a teenager at a high school in Michigan’s Thumb, a man was arrested in Indiana on his way to Florida, police said.
Huron County sheriff’s deputies and Sebewaing police officers responded to Unionville-Sebewaing Area High School at 2203 Wildner Road for a carjacking report at about 7:04 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11.
Police learned an 18-year-old woman had been in her grandmother’s maroon 2015 Chevrolet Equinox, waiting for a relative to come out of the school, when an unknown man opened the passenger door and sat inside.
