but we absolutely wish him well. he did a very good job while he was at the white house. thank you very much, everybody. all right, let s get some reaction to this and other issues. representative in florida, members of the foreign affairs committee is joining us. thanks for having me on. what do you think of the president s statements? this is a serious matter. it s just one more public official found to be despicable and shaking the public s confidence and the people that are engaged by the people to help run the country. i was surprised the president didn t use this opportunity he is the one who invited the press pool to come into the oval office knowing you know they were going to ask him about this, this he didn t condemn domestic violence, that he didn t say anything about the two ex-wives or the girlfriend who claimed that there was abuse, verbal abuse, physical abu abuse. he simply seemed to defend his former white house staff secretary. we need to get to the bott
it is just wrong on every level. it is politically inept. it is morally wrong. and it shows also i mean, if one of the big problems here is that we all thought he would be or people thought he would be the grown-up in the room. he would rub those rough edges off of donald trump. that s with unrealistic. instead he s been the opposite of that. he s doubled down on every worst instinct that donald trump has. donald trump is a human wrecking ball. he has no idea how to govern. and kelly is his enabler. that is campaigning. that is not governing. to governor, you have to reach out and build coalitions. kelly didn t seem to get that. what do you make of the new york times report that donald trump has called reince priebus to vent about kelly. priebus denies this but the new york times is standing by the story, it doesn t surprise me. it doesn t surprise me and i bet you he has because he talks to priebus regularly on a phone not monitored do you think kelly is worse
anything about this, that kelly didn t do anything about it, that even when it came forward we have reports that kelly was still defending rob porter before he finally resigned, tells you everything you know about the mentality and the workplace. and of course perfectly channeling the president. the president always sides with the man, as our report indicated. he always sides with the person accused of abuse. and one can t help but reach the conclusion that is because he s in exactly the same position. he has been repeatedly accused and sometimes with great detail of abusing physically abusing women. we saw that he bragged on the access hollywood tape about assaulting women. so although this is deeply disturbing, deeply troubling, this is what you get when you elect someone who thinks this way and treats women in this fashion. what you didn t remember, because i tried to block this out of my mind, is what kelly o donnell just played for us a few minutes ago, donald trump s
already there, but the president showed up with his guards. kelly didn t know this, the staff didn t plan it. this is what they re dealing with with the president. every day. he heard about it, saw it as an opportunity. it s not as if he opened the door and said this is not the executive steam. what are all of you doing here? thank you, chris. what ended up happening was, he said two things. one was he talked about speaking to mueller under oath. realistically as you know very well, chris, when you talk to the fbi, you are lying to investigators regardless of whether you re under oath or not if you tell a lie. the oath question doesn t really matter. he went much further than his lawyers wanted him to. you had ty cobb walking this back furiously soon after. you also had the president emphasize a path to citizenship as part of their immigration plan. my understanding from somebody in the white house that was indeed the possibility of it
the daca fix. what do you mean by the daca fix should. to be able to keep the kids, people who came in as children. it seems like as long as there is some border funding, which the democrats agreed to but he now wants more border funding. it seems like he listens to the last person he talked. to so he came out and supported this and then the hard liners got him. i would say the first position is probably more likely his position but he is allowing himself to get pulled by the hard liners on this issue. there is a meeting with the congressional hispanic congress where they say that kelly didn t even know what was in the bill. that was a different bill. you make a good point. i think what leader mcconnell is trying to communicate through television, that the white house needs greater clarity if they re going to be able to deliver the
