2015. Good morning, im Lauren Lyster in for annemarie green. Federal safety officials believe a spike in electricity caused a deadly smoke condition in a washington, d. C. , subway station. The blinding smoke quickly filled the plaza metro station yet afternoon. Hundreds were evacuated from the station and a stalled train. One person died and dozens suffered from smoke inhalation. As mola lenghi of our Washington Station wusa reports, subway riders say they were overcome very quickly. I was on the train, and it just stopped and almost instantaneously got full of smoke.
