Tension grips Assam-Mizoram border, security tightened in both areas
The ongoing tension at the Assam-Mizoram border took a new shape after Assam alleged that Mizoram Police built a temporary shed at the area. Mizoram has claimed that the land where the police shed was built belonged to it.

Tension gripped the Assam-Mizoram border village of Gutguti following the construction of a temporary shed of police camp by the Mizoram police personnel, the Assam officials said.
Assam s Forest minister Parimal Suklabaidya, who is guardian minister of the district took stock of the situation from Hailakandis deputy commissioner Rohan Kunar Jha and SP.

In the afternoon on March 29, a meeting of the Mahajot alliance, led by the Congress, at Chalantapara in Assamâs Bongaigaon assumed an emotional tone. It was raining heavily and there was a power cut, so the meeting began under candlelight. The chief guest at the 100-plus gathering of workers from the Congress and its ally, the All India United Democratic Front, was Abdul Khaleque, the grand old partyâs Lok Sabha MP from Barpeta. Leaders of both parties from Bongaigaon and neighbouring areas were in attendance.
