Aspen Mountain will open with 50 acres at the top of the mountain with uploading and downloading required on the Silver Queen Gondola; Snowmass will open 7 acres at Elk Camp Meadows, uploading and downloading required on the Elk Camp Gondola.
With winter uphilling continuing to grow in popularity, especially since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, Aspen Skiing Co. is making it a priority to better manage those numbers on its four ski mountains. And, beginning this season, this will include a required $69 uphill pass for what has long been a free endeavor.
Aspen Skiing Co. is replacing the nearly 5-mile cable, technically a haul rope, on the Silver Queen Gondola for the first time since it was installed in 1986.
Buttermilk will open for early summer activities while Aspen Mountain’s opening is delayed until July 2

Buttermilk will open for the first time ever this year for summer sightseeing, hiking, disc golf and dining, Aspen Skiing Co. announced Tuesday.
Buttermilk will open Memorial Day Weekend, May 29 to 31 and continue to be open Friday through Sunday through June 20. Skico decided to open Buttermilk because the summer operations at Aspen Mountain will be delayed until July 2 due to construction projects.

Aspen Snowmass will open for the summer season Memorial Day Weekend, May 29-31, at
Buttermilk. This marks the first time Buttermilk will be open to the public in the summer. Guests can sightsee, hike, play disc golf and enjoy food and beverage options from the Cliffhouse restaurant, all accessed by the Summit Express chairlift. Summer operations at Buttermilk will continue weekends, Friday through Sunday, until June 20.
Snowmass will kick-off summer June 21 with daily operations running until Sept. 6. Weekend operations, Friday through Sunday, will continue at Snowmass through the month of September until closing day Oct. 3. Sightseeing and gondola rides on the Elk Camp Gondola and Elk Camp Chairlift, Snowmass Bike Park, Lost Forest, hiking, Camp Aspen Snowmass, food and beverage options at Elk Camp restaurant and more will be available at Snowmass this summer.
