KATHMANDU, April 29: The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has exerted pressure on the Kathmandu District Government Attorney Office (DGAO) to release the government employees arrested in connection with the distribution of fake driving licenses (DL).
The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police has recommended prosecution of Rahul Mahara, son of former speaker of the House of Representatives Krishna Bahadur Mahara, and two others, in connection with the gold smuggling racket hidden in electronic cigarettes popularly known as vapes.
The Kathmandu District Government Attorney’s Office on Sunday filed a case against 289 individuals, including a former deputy prime minister, four former ministers, six former secretaries, an incumbent secretary, and a joint-secretary along with dozens of government employees, middle-men, land mafia and businessmen in connection with the Baluwatar land grab scam.
KATHMANDU, Aug 28: The District Government Attorney’s Office (DGAO), Kathmandu, has filed a case against 290 people including four former ministers in connection with the Lalita Niwas land-grab scam. It has also claimed compensation of over Rs 18 billion from the defendants.
KATHMANDU, Aug 27: In the ongoing Lalita Niwas case, the Kathmandu District Government Attorney’s Office has taken the decision to pursue legal action solely on the grounds of forgery. The complex web of organized crime charges will not be pursued in this case.
