The Kathmandu District Government Attorney’s Office on Sunday filed a case against 289 individuals, including a former deputy prime minister, four former ministers, six former secretaries, an incumbent secretary, and a joint-secretary along with dozens of government employees, middle-men, land mafia and businessmen in connection with the Baluwatar land grab scam.
KATHMANDU, Aug 23: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police submitted the probe report to the Office of the District Government Attorney (ODGA), Kathmandu, on Tuesday, assessing the loss of around Rs 18 billion in the case of embezzlement of government land inside Lalita Niwas in Baluwatar. The report recommended making 238 people defendants and claiming Rs 18 billion in compensation from them.
Arrest warrants have been issued against four former secretaries on charge of their involvement in the Baluwatar-based Lalita Niwas land misappropriation scam.
