Scout Troop 339 exceeds 8 million pounds of paper
FREMONT - During its paper drive in May, St Ann’s Scout Troop 339 exceeded the 8-million pound mark of newspapers collected over its 42 continuous years of quarterly paper drives. All of the papers were collected and hand loaded into semi-trucks by the Scouts and their leaders.
When products are made with this recycled newspaper, not only are raw materials saved, but other resources like oil and water are saved as well. It also takes less energy, saves landfill space, and produces less air pollution.

Last week the Ottawa County Task Force on Aging honored Ottawa County Juvenile/Probate Judge Kathleen Giesler for her leadership in the development of the Task Force with a presentation of an engraved brick paver that will be placed at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds. Judge Giesler, who has given 28 years of faithful service to Ottawa County, was instrumental in guiding Ottawa County to better serve the needs of seniors who have been abused, neglected or exploited. With her assistance and support, Ottawa County Task Force on Aging was born. The Task Force addresses the issues facing our senior population and aims to increase awareness of the problem of abuse, neglect and exploitation. Judge Giesler has been an unwavering supporter of the elderly and the youth of Ottawa County.
