PORT CLINTON - When Judge Frederick “Fritz” Hany II became Ottawa County’s new juvenile and probate judge in January, he brought a desire to use his 28 years of experience as a municipal court judge to the juvenile court, where he can intervene in the lives of locals while they are still young. He hopes to identify and address needs through the juvenile court to help set kids on a productive path that will veer them far from the courtroom as adults.
“My immediate focus is on families and youth,” Hany said. “In municipal court, we have families struggling. They are struggling economically, with mental health issues, and with substance addiction issues. This court is prepared to address these issues.”
