Shock for Carnforth community after woman in 40s found dead

THE mayor of a rural Lancashire town has described the community’s shock after a murder probe was launched and concluded within 24 hours. Police were called to an address on Kings Drive, Carnforth following the death of a woman in her 40s on Wednesday. Officers arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of murder during the investigation but later released him without charge after a post mortem revealed there was no third part involvement. Cllr Kath Bromilow, the mayor of Carnforth, said the police had been ‘really quick to respond’. “It’s a shock,” said Cllr Bromilow. “It’s always a shock when somebody’s died in the community, from whatever circumstances, and a youngish person as well.

Carnforth Town Council honours its Citizens of Merit in virtual ceremony

HONOURED: Town honours its Covid heroes Carnforth Town Council held a virtual ceremony to honour the recipients of the Carnforth Citizen of Merit Award on January 14. More than 40 winners attended the virtual meeting and were thanked on behalf of the Town Council and by Town Mayor, Kath Bromilow M.B.E. NOMINATED: Liam Law and Andrea Wren, organisers of the Carnforth Covid Support Group were nominated 94 people were nominated, and many were volunteers or key workers. Liam Law and Andrea Wren, founder members of the Carnforth Covid 19 Local Volunteer Group - both of whom received the Award, and gave thanks to the Town Council, their fellow volunteers and all of the other organisations that had come into creation in response to the virus.
