April 18, 2021 No. 4 Beach Caps off Regular Season with a Perfect Weekend GULF SHORES, Ala. – The fourth-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team (28-4) finished off the regular season, going 3-0 on Sunday with a pair of wins over No. 7 TCU and a 5-0 win over Tulane. The Seminoles started the day with a 3-2 win over No. 7 TCU, FSU’s first of two wins on the day over the Horned Frogs. Florida State got on the board first with a point from court five. Jenna Johnson and Kate Privett were tied at 14 in the first set when one of TCU’s players got hurt and could not continue the match, resulting in an FSU win.

April 9, 2021 - by Bret Clein No. 3 Beach Volleyball Falls to No. 15 FIU, 3-2 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The third-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team (22-4) lost to No. 15 FIU at home Friday night, 3-2. After rain delays all day that did not allow the Seminoles to play their only match of the day until 7 pm, the Garnet and Gold fell to FIU 3-2. The match came down to the third set on court four that the Seminoles lost 18-16. Florida State took a 1-0 lead with a quick win on court two by Torrey Van Winden and Keara Rutz. They took the first set 21-11 and then the second set 21-15. FSU expanded their lead to 2-0 with a 21-17, 21-13 win on court five from Jenna Johnson and Kate Privett.

April 10, 2021 - by Bret Clein No. 3 Beach Volleyball Earns Two Wins on Senior Day TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The third-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team (24-4) had reasons to celebrate on Saturday as they earned their 13 th and 14 th sweeps of the season with 5-0 wins over No. 17 Stetson and UNF and celebrated their 11 seniors during Senior Day. No. 3 FLORIDA STATE 5, NO. 17 STETSON 0 The Seminoles and the Hatters got an early start to the morning with an 8 am match. This did not slow Florida State down as they defeated Stetson 5-0 with four straight-set wins. Jenna Johnson and Kate Privett got things started for the Garnet and Gold earning a 21-17, 21-11 win on court five. Keara Rutz and Torrey Van Winden expanded the lead to two with a 21-13, 21-14 win on court two. That win improved Rutz and Van Winden to 24-2 together on the season with all of their matches on court two.

No. 2 Beach Volleyball Falls Twice to No. 4 UCLA

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The second-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team (22-3) lost to No. 4 UCLA (15-1) twice on Sunday. The Seminoles lost the first match 4-1 and lost the second match 3-2. Florida State finished their trip to Los Angeles 1-3 after splitting matches with No. 1 USC on Saturday. FSU’s final match of the weekend against UCLA went to third sets for pairs one and five before the Bruins of UCLA were able to pull out the win. In the first match of the day, Florida State and UCLA split pairs two and four in the first wave of matches. UCLA took the four pairs in straight sets but FSU bounced back, winning on court two.
