For months, the city has worked to find a place to move homeless camps from current sites on Campus Drive and the Greenhorn Dam. A permanent site next to the Beacon of Hope s shelter, which is under construction, should be ready in October or November.

At the meeting, a several citizens expressed concerns about the increase in the homeless around town, especially in the Deer Creek area, where a number of camps, trailers, and RVs have set up shop.
Residents told of garbage and glass being strewn around the area, dogs roaming loose, and loud parties late into the night. Others told of homeless people knocking on their doors in the middle of the night asking to use the restroom or for water.
