As Delaware County continues to move forward with its effort to deprivatize the George W. Hill Correctional Facility, a long-awaited financial feasibility study was presented Thursday to the county’s Jail Oversight Board. The goal of the assessment was to compare the potential costs of deprivatization with the status quo.
“We believe the evidence clearly demonstrates deprivatization is feasible, and the initiative will not place the county at significant financial risk and, in fact, has the potential to reduce current costs,” Karl Becker, senior vice president of CGL Cos., told the board.
Atturo Tire opens distribution centers in Virginia, Texas

WAUKEGAN, Ill. Private brand marketer Atturo Tire Corp. has opened distribution facilities in Danville, Va., and Coppell, Texas, complementing existing existing locations in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and at the Waukegan headquarters.
The new warehouses provide additional storage/distribution capacity for Atturo s growing product range, which includes new tread patterns and more than 40 new part numbers launched over the past year, the company said.
The Virginia warehouse started operations in January. Atturo said it will begin shipments from Dallas by the end of February. Despite the challenges of the shutdowns and the new anti-dumping tax, Atturo s customer base continues to grow, Atturo General Manager Karl Becker said. Atturo sources a high percentage of its products from Taiwan.
Delaware County Council voted unanimously during its regular meeting Wednesday night to approve a $385,000 contract to CGL Companies to oversee transitioning the county-owned prison from private management to county control.
âThis is a major milestone for the county,â said County Council Member Kevin Madden, who also chairs the Jail Oversight Board. âWe have historically thought of the county jail as part of the criminal justice system, but this transition represents a new mindset that a county jail is also an important and integral part of the county services to the community, and an investment in the health safety and vitality of our community. Thatâs a profound shift in how we thought about it.â
