Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is facing a backlash for declaring herself ‘powerless’ to lift COVID-19 restrictions and allow a funeral without an attendance cap for a Queensland police officer who was allegedly murdered while on duty last month.
Senior Constable David Masters will be farewelled on Friday at an invitation-only funeral in Burpengary with a cap of 100 attendees.

A woman who allegedly mowed down and killed a much loved police officer has handed herself in.
Queensland Senior Constable David Masters, 53, was hit and killed while trying to stop an allegedly stolen Hyundai Kona SUV with tyre-deflating road spikes on the Bruce Highway near Deception Bay, north of Brisbane early Saturday.
The burnt out car was later found 25 kilometres away.
The alleged driver, Skye Anne Wallis, 33, handed herself into Caboolture Police station on the Sunshine Coast late Tuesday night.
The Caboolture woman was later charged with murder, arson and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

A second woman charged over the hit-and-run death of a Queensland police officer was unintentionally carrying a weapon when she surrendered herself to police custody, her lawyer says.
Skye Anne Wallis, 33, from Caboolture, had her case mentioned briefly in Caboolture Magistrates Court on Wednesday after handing herself in late on Tuesday.
She is charged with murder, arson and unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon at the time of her arrest.
Wallis s lawyer Hugh Stitt, who asked for her appearance in court to be excused, said outside court that Wallis was unintentionally carrying a weapon when she handed herself in.
