Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is facing a backlash for declaring herself ‘powerless’ to lift COVID-19 restrictions and allow a funeral without an attendance cap for a Queensland police officer who was allegedly murdered while on duty last month.
Senior Constable David Masters will be farewelled on Friday at an invitation-only funeral in Burpengary with a cap of 100 attendees.

No traditional police guard of honour will farewell fallen officer Senior Constable Dave Masters at his funeral this week, because of Queensland’s COVID-19 restrictions.
However, Queensland officers will pause for a minute’s silence at all police stations on the day and flags will be flown at half-mast at all state government buildings.
