Front-line health workers begin receiving vaccines in Hunterdon County

Some health workers inÂ Hunterdon County, New Jersey started receiving COVID-19 vaccines this week. Hunterdon Countyâs Health Department on Wednesday began providing Modernaâs COVID-19 vaccinations to emergency medical technicians and school nurses, target groups authorized by the CDC as Category 1A, according to a news release from the county Board of Chosen Freeholders. More vaccine is anticipated to be received next week. The CDC will advise when the county program can be expanded to the Category 1B group, which includes first responders, firefighters, law enforcement officers, teachers, critical infrastructure workers, and residents 75 years of age and older. Hunterdon Countyâs vaccine distribution is taking place as a drive-thru operation and is overseen by the county Health Department, according to Health Officer Karen DeMarco.

Front line health workers begin receiving vaccinations in Hunterdon County Updated Dec 30, 2020; Hunterdon County’s Health Department today began providing Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccinations to emergency Medical Technicians and School Nurses, target groups authorized by the CDC as Category 1A, Hunterdon County Freeholder Board Deputy Director Susan J. Soloway announced. Soloway, the board’s health department liaison, reporting at a special meeting of the Freeholder Board said, “We have good news to report; This morning the County Health Department began administering vaccines to frontline medical workers, EMTs and School Nurses, as healthcare workers designated by the CDC as Category 1A. EMTs are often the first to arrive on-scene and provide emergency medical care to those in need and frequently have close contact with potential COVID-19 infected patients, which is why they have been placed in the category 1A.
