Days after Gulam Rasool Balyavi triggered a political row with his remark that Muslims will turn cities into Karbala if there are comments made against Prophet Muhammad, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav has said that there is no place for extremism in the state.
At the gathering, Mr Balyawi had also slammed now suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, whose controversial remarks on the Prophet led to violent protest across the country and a huge diplomatic backlash.
Row Over Karbala Remarks: JDU MLC Gulam Rasool Balyavi delivered the controversial remarks on Thursday in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. Taking a dig at expelled BJP leader Nupur Sharma, he said,
Janata Dal United leader and former MP Ghulam Rasool in a provocative speech made in Hazaribagh, warned that he would turn the cities into Karbala, if anyone points fingers at Prophet Mohammad, in an apparent reference to former BJP .
Balyawi, who is National General Secretary of Janata Dal United (JD-U) and a former Rajya Sabha member, also sought a Muslim Safety Act to keep the rights of Muslim community intact in the country.
