Karachi’s Eid business crossed Rs30b but traders still unhappy

KARACHI: In comparison to last year, Karachi witnessed better Eidul Fitr sales this year, but traders still lack optimism about the situation. All Karachi Tajir Ittehad Chairman Atiq Mir thinks Eid business in the city has hardly crossed the Rs30 billion mark. Last year it was barely Rs10 billion.
According to the city’s electronic market association, their business was 75 per cent less this Ramazan. The cloth merchant association believes that there was no drastic difference in this year’s Eid sales in comparison to last year.

CM orders strict steps as Karachi’s District East reports 22pc positive cases

KARACHI: Covid-19 positivity has reached 22 per cent in District East of Karachi, followed by Hyderabad where the detection rate has soared to 19 per cent, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said on Monday, and directed the district administrations to take strict measures to implement the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in both the districts.
Presiding over a meeting of the Covid-19 Task Force at the CM House, he observed that during the last seven days, the virus had hit new highs in Karachi East, where the detection rate had reached 22 per cent, Hyderabad 19 per cent, District South 13 per cent and District Central 10 per cent.

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi says the competition in the NA-249 by-poll being held in Karachi will be fierce till the last vote is counted.
He, however, told Geo News on Thursday that PTI is leading in every survey related to the NA-249 constituency of Karachi.
Polling for the by-election in the NA-249 constituency started at 8am and will continue till 5pm without any interval. The National Assembly seat fell vacant after PTI s Faisal Vawda resigned.
Vawda worked for the NA-249 constituency after it was neglected for 20 years, said Naqvi, while talking about PTI s chances of winning in the by-poll.
