Ridgefielders Launch The Friends Of Ridgefield Restaurant Fund

(“Friends of Ridgefield” - Contributed) RIDGEFIELD, CT – Concerned Ridgefield residents have obtained approval to use the town s existing Friends of Ridgefield 501(c)(3) fund to receive and direct much-needed private stimulus to Ridgefield s restaurants and potentially other needy businesses. Like many around the country, Ridgefield s restaurants are suffering under relentless COVID-19 pressures. Many are near a breaking point. In December, Bloomberg.com estimated over 110,000 restaurants had closed nationwide, claiming the industry was in a free fall. As of November, over 600 restaurants had closed in Connecticut. Ridgefield also has seen several close, with others in immediate jeopardy.

The competition to be selected for the festival is steep. Thousands of artist and writers submit their work annually. This year, Embracing Our Differences received 15,912 entries from 128 countries and 48 states. So, it s no easy feat to be selected for the exhibit even just once, let alone multiple years.

AG Tong Joins Bipartisan Coalition Fighting Unlawful Home Fees

Reply(1) Jan. 31, 2021 Attorney General William Tong today joined a bipartisan coalition of 33 attorneys general in opposing a proposed class action settlement that would permit a mortgage servicer to profit from illegal payment processing fees charged to homeowners making normal mortgage payments online or by phone. The coalition filed a motion for leave to file an amicus brief, opposing the proposed settlement in Morris et al. v. PHH Mortgage Corporation, et al., where mortgage servicer PHH Mortgage Corporation and its predecessor corporation, Ocwen Loan Servicing, LLC (collectively PHH), would be able to continue to profit from illegal processing fees the company has been charging to nearly one million homeowners nationwide, including 17,264 homeowners residing in Connecticut alone.
