Severely dehydrated mountain biker rescued by police in BC backcountry
BC RCMP is reminding residents to be prepared when venturing out into the backcountry this summer as the heat starts to hit.
According to police, earlier this month on June 3, emergency crews in Sunningdale had to act quickly and get to the banks of the Columbia River to help a mountain biker suffering from serious dehydration.
The 63-year-old man was reportedly biking in 40ºC weather when he began to overheat. Knowing he was in trouble, the man called his wife who passed along the info to RCMP.
Two officers hiked to the man s location and had him extricated from the area via boat. The man was transported to an area hospital as a precaution.
