As the director of product strategy and partnership at the Future Forum â a Slack consortium that collects and analyzes data such as employee preferences and organizational practices so that the partners it works with can stay competitive â Helen Kupp has done a lot of thinking and researching about the digital transformation organizations are undergoing.
âWe re moving into this era where you can t think of digital transformation separate from overall business transformation. They re just so interwoven together that it s not useful to think of them in isolation. We re all trying to figure out how to work differently and how to bring in more hybrid, flexible work.â

Youâre familiar with Zoom fatigue. Heck, you probably suffer it daily. If itâs not 60-minute meetings for work, then itâs family Zooms, neighborhood Zooms and Zooms with your kidsâ school teachers (note: insert your favorite video conferencing system in this paragraph).
In case I sound like an ingrate, I do appreciate connecting with others over video. And I am fortunate and privileged to earn a living working from my home office.
But itâs quite tiring. For me at least, half of the energy spent in a meeting is watching my own image out of the corner of my eye â making sure my hair isnât sticking up and projecting the appearance that Iâm fully engaged. Adding to that, Iâm in the same chair the entire day, barely getting up to grab a bite or for a nature break.
