Bengal Universities Rebuff UGC Order, Refuse to Promote Cow Science Test

Kolkata:Â Jadavpur University, one of the premier educational institutes in West Bengal, is among several universities in West Bengal that has rejected the University Grants Commission (UGC)âs suggestion to encourage students to take a ‘cow science’ test that is to be conducted nationally by the Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog, a government body under the ministry of fisheries and animal husbandry.

New Delhi:Â The Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog (RKA) has decided to postpone its controversial ‘cow exam’ which was scheduled for February 25. According to the
Indian Express, the decision was taken a day after RKA chairman Vallabhbhai Kathiria left office at the end of his two-year term.
Announcing the postponement, a notice on the RKA website said, âPlease note that online Kamdhenu Gau Vigyan Prachar Prasar Exam /Pratiyogita which was scheduled for 25th Feb 2021 including Mock Examination on 21st Feb 2021 has been postponed.â No reason was provided, and no new date for the exam was announced.

NEW DELHI: The Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog (RKA) has postponed the cow science exam which was scheduled for February 25 day after its chief, Vallabhbhai Kathiria exited his office.
According to its website, it stated, Please note that online Kamdhenu Gau Vigyan Prachar Prasar Exam /Pratiyogita which was scheduled for 25th Feb 2021, including Mock Examination on 21st Feb 2021, has been postponed.
It is to be mentioned here that the exam was supposed to be conducted by the RKA, which had been set up under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, for the dissemination of information on economic, scientific, environmental, health, agriculture and spiritual relevance of indigenous cow in India.

The University Grants Commission has written to vice-chancellors of 900 varsities across the country to encourage students to enroll in Cow Science exam, which is a national-level exam to test knowledge on gau vigyan (cow science).
Cow Science exam, otherwise known as Kamdhenu Gau Vigyan Prachar-Prasar Examination , for which there is no registration fee, has been postponed. It was earlier scheduled for February 25, 2021. No information on the new date has been provided yet.
