Army installs national flag at Kaman Post, Uri

Baramulla (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], May 19 (ANI): The Indian Army has renovated a cafeteria and also installed a 60 feet long national flag pole at Kaman Post.
The cafe named Cafe Freedon at Kaman Aman Setu - Friendship Bridge between India and Pakistan, is also the last point of the India-Pak border in the Uri district. The cafe has been restarted after almost four years.
The national flag has also been installed at Kaman Post near zero line of LOC at Uri in Baramulla district of North Kashmir. Speaking to ANI, local resident Ghulam Muhammad said, I congratulate the Indian Army for setting up this cafe. They always strive to maintain freedom and peace and develop the area. As part of the Confidence Building Measure, the trade and bus service between the two countries was conducted through the Kaman trade point established on this post.

Less than three months after the Indian and Pakistan armies agreed to hold ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC), the two armies on Thursday exchanged sweets to mark Eid-ul-Fitr.
Confidence-building measure
The ceremony is seen as a confidence-building measure in the backdrop of recently agreed ceasefire between both nations.
The tradition of exchanging sweets on festivals like Eid, Holi, Diwali and respective national days has been revived.
Troops exchanged sweets and pleasantries at four border crossings in Jammu & Kashmir at the LoC –Tithwal on Kishanganga river in Tangdhar, Kupwara; Kaman-Aman Setu in Uri; Poonch-Rawalakot and Mendhar-Hotspring in Poonch district. The ceremony is seen as a confidence-building measure in the backdrop of recently agreed ceasefire between both countries.

Armies of India and Pakistan on Thursday exchanged sweets and pleasantries on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr at Tithwal crossing on Kishanganga river in Tangdhar and Kaman Aman Setu along the Line of Control in frontier district Kupwara reviving the traditional goodwill gesture witnessed on major festivals, officials said.
The two sides have been exchanging sweets exchanging the sweets on major festivals like Eid, Holi, Diwali and respective national days of the two nations. However the events have been missing in recent last due to simmering tensions between the two countries.
