A 16- year- old schoolboy travelling by bus tested positive for COVID-19 during a random Antigen Test carried out near the Bentota Bridge considered as the entry point to the Southern Province.
Investigations revealed that he was the son of a senior police officer in the the Kalutara South Police, where 68 police officers were subject to Antigen Tests and four of them including a WPC had tested positive.
OIC Aluthgama Police Asoka Akrunaratne said that 897 people entering the Southern Province were subject to Antigen Tests at the Bentota Bridge for the last several days and two of them had been identified as CORONA positive.

Another individual has fallen victim to the novel coronavirus adding to the COVID-19 death tally of the country.
The deceased is a 71-year-old male residing in Kalutara South, the Department of Government Information confirmed.
He had passed away on December 21 at his residence.
The cause of his death has been determined as cancer and blood poisoning due to COVID-19 infection.
His death marks the 184th death from the coronavirus in Sri Lanka.
