Accidents claim six lives in 24 hours

COLOMBO (News1st): At least six deaths had been caused due to motor accidents in the last 24 hours, police said.
The accidents had taken place in the Katunayake, Kalutara South, Meegoda, Ampara, and Polgahawela areas.
The public has been requested to abide by road rules to avoid accidents, police spokesman Ajith Rohana noted.

Dec 12, Colombo: Following the discovery of 16 COVID-19 coronavirus infected people in the Marikkar Street area in Kalutara, it has been decided to impose travel restrictions on the area.
To ensure the safety of the customers who come to the city for the upcoming festive season, a number of PCR tests were carried out on the owners and employees of shops in Kalutara in the past few days.
As a result, nine shops in Kalutara have been closed to date and traffic restrictions have been imposed on the Marikkar Street area in Kalutara South, where most of the infected persons reside.
