Reaching the district tournament wasn’t Reese Moore’s only accomplishment on Saturday. The Forest City junior also recorded his 100th career win. Moore became the 22nd Indian to reach 100 wins and joins Kaleb Umbaugh, who also got that this season.
Moore – currently ranked fourth at 195 – is 26-1 on the season and advanced to districts with two wins in a total of 3 minutes and 55 seconds. Reese didn’t get a chance to defend his conference title but will have an opportunity to reach the state tournament with a win or second-place finish this coming weekend in Humboldt. Moore finished third last season at 182 as a sophomore.

The Mason City girls basketball came extremely close again to pulling off a stunning victory over a ranked opponent on Tuesday night.
After going scoreless in the first quarter against Waverly-Shell Rock, the Mohawks outscored the Go-Hawks, 45-37, over the final three frames.Â
Mason City scored 20 points in the fourth but couldn t quite close the gap, as the Mohawks fell to 0-8 with a 49-45 loss.Â
Three players did all of the scoring for Mason City, as junior Jada Williams led the way with 19 points on 6-of-15 shooting, with four 3-pointers. Freshman Reggi Spotts had 16 points, and also contributed four 3-pointers, while fellow freshman Grace Berding had the rest of Mason City s 10 points.Â
