KEENE, N.H. It took almost two full years, but the Hanover High boys tennis team finally returned to action in a season-opening 9-0 shutout at Keene on Monday afternoon.
Kevin Pillsbury won, 8-0, at No. 3 singles for Hanover. Evan Yang, Alex Rockmore, Alex Stevens, Zhiwen Liu and Zach Pearson all added 8-1 wins. Yang/Rockmore had a dominant 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles. Pillsbury/Stevens (8-2) and Liu/Pearson (8-4) also won in doubles.
“Getting out the first-match jitters from either having had almost two years without a season or having it be your first varsity match, we stepped it up against a novice Keene squad,” Hanover coach Jarrod Shaheen said.
