2nd Women’s History Month virtual event features 4 Solano women FAIRFIELD The second in a series of Women’s History Month presentations by the Solano Commission for Women and Girls is set for Thursday. Dr. Danette LeBaron, a pediatric physician at Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center and a U.S. Air Force veteran; Kacie Patton, a senior deputy probation officer for the Solano County; Gethsemane Moss, a teacher in the Vallejo City School District, Benicia school board trustee and president and chief executive officer of the Chocolate Daisy Unsilenced nonprofit; and Susan Rotchy, executive director of Independent Living Resources of Solano and Contra Counties, will be featured.

Sacramento man dies in single-vehicle crash near Dixon DIXON The man who died in a single-vehicle crash shortly after 3:30 p.m. Sunday has been identified as Freddie Martinez, 45, of Sacramento, the Solano County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office reports. The California Highway Patrol reported that Martinez was driving west on Interstate 80, west of Highway 113, when he apparently lost control of his 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe and it overturned. Martinez, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center where he died from his injuries, the CHP reports. The cause of the crash is still being investigated. The CHP reports that alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected at this time.

Police investigate deaths of 2 women in Vaca apartment as double-homicide Man who initiated standoff now in custody VACAVILLE Two women were found dead Saturday after an overnight standoff at an apartment complex, with reports that portions of what led to the standoff were streamed online. A man who barricaded himself inside the apartment was later taken into custody. Sgt. Katie Cardona reports the incident began shortly after 12:40 a.m. when officers responded to a call for a welfare check at the Rocky Hill Veterans Apartments at 582 Rocky Hill Road. A woman had called to report a man was inside an apartment and was possibly armed, Cardona reports. The woman said the man had live-streamed himself on social media from inside the apartment. The video showed the man carrying a handgun and two women lying on the floor – not moving, Cardona reports.

He was tested for Covid-19 and the result was negative, she wrote.

Vacaville police shoot, kill man after pursuit that left officer injured VACAVILLE Police shot and killed a man Tuesday night in an incident that began with a driver performing donuts in the back parking lot at City Hall. The situation that ended with the shooting started at approximately 8:35 p.m. with a failed traffic stop in the area of City Hall, Lt. Mark Donaldson reports. A pursuit started and continued along Davis Street near the skate center, where an officer in a police vehicle reported being rammed by the suspect’s pickup truck, injuring the officer who was driving the vehicle, Donaldson reports.
