Eldon junior Jesiah Simmons and School of the Osage senior Zach Green will make up 50 percent of the semifinals at 113 pounds in the Class 2 boys wrestling state championships. Simmons and Green both had 2-0 records Wednesday night on the opening day of the state tournament at Mizzou Arena, clinching state medals.

MEXICO The Southern Boone Eagles finished with five state qualifiers, leading to a fifth-place finish as a team Friday and Saturday in the Class 2 District 2 Tournament at Mexico High School.
