A total of 120 Covid-19 patients have been reported in Padukka during the second wave so far, Padukka Medical Officer of Health Dumithra Kahangama said.
He said 26 persons out of 40 who were subjected to PCR tests in the Galagedara East Gramaniladari Division have tested positive for the virus yesterday.
Dr. Kahangama said they were subjected to PCR tests following the death of a Covid-19 infected man in the area recently.
He said PCR tests were conducted on fifteen more close contacts of the victim and that their reports were yet to come.
He said he had requested the authorities to take steps to lockdown the Galagerada East Gramaniladari Division and that travel restrictions have been imposed in the area at the moment.
