Zambia : Zanaco Held By Stubborn Kitwe United

At Garden Park in Kitwe, leaders Zanaco finished 0-0 against a plucky Kitwe United. Bottom of the table and winless United took the game to Zanaco who had goalkeeper Mangani Banda to thank for a couple of critical saves. At Presidents Stadium ,second placed Prison Leopards needed a last minute equalizer from David Obashi in their Kabwe derby against visitors Kabwe Warriors after Ali Sadiki had put the visitors ahead. There was also a draw result in the Ndola derby where hosts Indeni and third placed Forest Rangers finished 2-2. Zanaco, Prison and Forest all have 25 points. But joining them on 25 points are Zesco United who won 2-0 at home in Ndola against Lusaka Dynamos.

Leaders Zanaco visit winless and bottom placed Kitwe United this Saturday at Garden Park in Kitwe. Zanaco lead the 2020/2021 FAZ Super Division log on goal difference tied on 24 points with second placed Prison Leopards and Forest Rangers who are third after fourteen games played. Interestingly, Zanaco need a win this Saturday to take into next weeks home fixture against none other than Prison Leopards at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka. The six-time champions visit Chingalika who have collected just one point from their last five games and are already early favourites for relegation with 19 games left to play. Meanwhile, Forest and Prison’s hopes of staying in the top three face an interesting test this weekend.

Zambia : Nkana s Poor Form Continues

Zambia’s continental envoys Nkana and Napsa Stars continued to struggle on the domestic front after posting a defeat and draw in their respective fixtures in Saturday’s doubleheader at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka. Defending FAZ Super Division champions Nkana lost 2-0 away to sixth placed Lusaka Dynamos to suffer their second successive league defeat after a 2-1 home loss to Zesco United on January 17. Nkana have collected just one competitive match in their last five matches that came three games ago in a 2-1 league win at home over Red Arrows in January 13. Tady Etekiama and Lubamba Moyela punished Nkana for some very basic goalkeeping and defensive errors in the 15th and 60th minutes respectively.

Batambuze: Kabwe Warriors unveil former Gor Mahia defender

“Batambuze has signed a two-year contract with the Magnificent People s Team.” The left-back started his playing at Simba FC of Uganda before he moved to Kenya to sign for Muhoroni Youth in 2011 but later moved back to Uganda where he signed for SC Villa before returning to Kenya to join Western Stima. He also featured for Sofapaka and Tusker in Kenya before he signed for Gor Mahia, whom he helped win the league title on two occasions. He later suffered a knee injury during Gor Mahia’s Caf Champions League match against Aigle Noir of Burundi and it was at this point when his troubles with the Kenyan club started.
