Bengaluru, Dec 15 : Chaos prevailed in the Karnataka Legislative Council when Deputy Chairman S.L. Dharme Gowda occupied the chair even before the house bell stopped ringing on Tuesday. Angered over this, the Congress members tried to drag him off his chair in unprecedented scenes in a one-day sitting of the state s upper house.
The JD(S) support became crucial for passage of the bill as the BJP is short of a majority in the 75-member upper house. JD(S) leader and former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy, who bailed out the BS Yediyurappa regime on Wednesday by voting in favour of the land reforms law, did not come to the BJPs rescue on the controversial cow-slaughter bill.
