The rape case was registered in 2022 at Rajpur Police Station, after a woman staffer of the Hyatt Hotel at Dehradun was allegedly raped by a 15-year-old.
Justice Gita Gopi was hearing a plea filed by a 16-year-old juvenile in conflict with law (JICL), who argued that he recently cleared his class 12 and was a bright student.
"The courts must avoid the danger of determining the meaning of provisions based on their own preconceived notion of ideological structure or scheme into which the provision to be interpreted is fitted", the Court said
