Accused of ambushing two officers in the des moines area in separate shootings has a history of mental illness. The suspect surrendered this morning. Investigators are trying to determine a motive. Police say they got the first call about 1 a. M. One officer was found dead in the front seat of his car. The second call about 20 minutes later 2 miles away, another officer was found to have been shot in the front seat of his patrol car. These were our friends. They are our coworkers.
