On a Police Department in the central coast. The shooting following two similar attacks in the oakland and santa cruz mountains. Attacks that left two Law Enforcement officers dead. Sources tell us those attacks are linked. We could have three cases of domestic terrorism all linked in our area. Nbcs Terry Mcsweeney has the inside story from oakland. Reporter federal authorities believe two bay area attacks on Law Enforcement are the work of the same domestic terror cell. The ambush that led to David Underwood dead and the attack that killed Sergeant Damon gutsweller. Federal sources tell us that Steven Carillo is believed to be the sun gan gunman of the shoot oakland. Justin earhart trained with him in utah and never had a hint he was capable of an attack, especially on Law Enforcement. It was a shock. A lot of us have known him as someone who was nice and helpful and very friendly. Reporter at the times of the killings, he was stationed in fair field, training explosives and tactics.

The sheriff took note of the turnout and thanks the community for their support. For my personnel who are here you guys hear a lost negative things that go on in policing today but if you look around in crowd people support what you guys do, and i want to thank everybody for coming out today. [ applause ] heres what we know about what happened yesterday. Deputies first responded to the scene in ben lomond after getting a call about a suspicious van. Investigators say when deputies tracked down the van thats when they were ambushed with gunfire and ieds. Along with gutzwiller another deputy was injured. That deputy is now in stable condition. Investigators have identified the suspect as air force Staff Sergeant stephen carill
