Where crews are investigating a hazmat situation. They say nearly 2 dozen people may have been exposed to a chemical and its making some of those people sick tonight. The building where the leak was found has been evacuated. Kron 4 Justin Campbell joins us live from Redwood Shores tonight with the very latest. Justin. Can in justine, the Fire Department and the hazmat from san mateo. And redwood city just left the scene that chemical leak was free. On a walk you through a little bit of what happened. This the deputy fire chief tells me around 12, 30 this afternoon a call came in people inside of this building complaining of nausea, 2 of them even had a blood. He 21 people potentially exposed. They monitor the those people left the building. None of them went to the hospital. They have since been released. Now the Fire Department telling

Weve learned that 53 people have died there. And the governor says that number is expected to rise. It is now becoming one of the deadliest wildfires in recent years here in the u. S. And the deadliehawa grant lotus is here in the studio with us and has the latest grant utterly devastating. This fire just ripped through the town of la hina. A popular shopping and restaurant district uses with history and charm and as you can see here in the cell phone video taken from the ground. So many Historic Buildings sites have just been leveled. Theyre gone and we have a satellite image here. This is what la hina look like 3 days ago. And then the aftermath, what it looks like now. Just unrecognizable. Its so bad. The fires destroyed more than 1000 structures and theyre still trying to assess really the scope of the damage. So many fo
Amanda hari spoke to the Council Member about the next steps that he wants to take. Amanda . Antioch city Councilmember Mike barber annika says hes been working and monitoring number of staffing level within the Police Department for the past 4 to 5 months. And now the number of officers has gotten so low. He feels the council needs to intervene. A sideshow in any marina parking lot just about a block from the Police Department left one car in the river. Another damaged a water main and a 3rd crashed into a fire hydrant. City Council Member mike says theres a void in the Police Department. Resulting in incidents like this one im told right now we have approximately e 31 officers including supervisors to cover 7 beat on a 24 7. 365 day year operation. And it is my opinion that that is not enough officers for proper coverage danica used to be a Police Lieutenant who handled scheduling for his department. He says 31 officers is not enough.
