The Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court has disposed a petition filed by a poultry farm owner who was seeking protection for hens and eggs against the local administration s decision to cull them in the wake of a bird flu outbreak.
The court ordered the local administration of Nandurbar district to revisit the decision of culling animals. It however said, after considering all aspects, the administration may proceed with necessary steps to prevent spread of bird flu.
In his petition, the poultry farm owner told the court that on February 12, local authorities passed an order saying poultry farms must cull their birds and eggs.
