AGARTALA: A division bench of the High Court of Tripura has directed the state government to provide regular pay scale to the teachers who have been appointed under Sarva Shikhya Abhiyan in various schools since 2002 and now working under Samagra Shikhya Abhiyan (SSA) since 2018.
About 5,200 graduate and undergraduate teachers were appointed under SSA scheme in Tripura government’s schools till 2009 and have been discharging duties like regular government teachers but getting fixed payment without any retirement benefit, which has aggrieved the SSA teachers.
The division bench comprising Chief Justice Akil A Kureshi and Justice S G Chattopadhyay on Tuesday directed the state government to ensure necessary steps to incorporate the teachers with 10 years in service in the regular cadre within six months.

I am not sure how another reader will interpret this headline but to me it appears to suggest that âthere is an impasse (Dictionary definitions: â(1) a position or situation from which there is no escape; deadlock. (2) a road or way that has no outlet; cul-de-sacâ) in the Collegium (presumably, of the Supreme Court of India) and this creates the possibility that India will be deprived of a woman Chief Justice of India in 2027.
