JUNE ROSE BELLAMY: 1932-2020
She was a renowned beauty, a product of an unlikely marriage of a Burmese royal with an Australian bookie, a crack rifle shot, and in later years an accomplished cook, who herself married an eccentric and brutal dictator in the hope of softening his rule.
Such was the life of June Rose Bellamy, also named Yadana Nat Mai or “Goddess of the Nine Jewels”.

Her grandfather was the prince Limbin, exiled to India with the rest of Burma’s royal family after the British seized Mandalay in 1885. His daughter Princess Ma Lat – June Rose Bellamy s mother – was born in Calcutta in 1894, and later attended high school in Allahabad.
